My EcoFest 2023 addition… meet LOMI

Yesterday, walking through the Pump Room Gardens in Leamington Spa, I stumbled upon their EcoFest 2023 day activities, advertised as – ‘learn more about how you can decrease your carbon footprint, increase your healthy eating & step outside more to explore beautiful local green spaces. Good for us, good for the planet.’

Can the UK build while France spends €200m destroying its wine?

Over the last two years exploring the UK’s towns, cities, restaurants, and bars, sampling as many local wines as possible, we have been intrigued by the British wine culture, its perception, and consumer education, or may I be bold enough to say – lack of it. There is so much room to develop the reach, respect, and consumption of the fantastic wines that are produced in this country.

How big is your… BUT?

A client called, excitedly sharing that a major sponsor for our upcoming event was extremely pleased with “everything so far”. By the tone of voice, you know that feeling when you’re waiting for that one little word to change the course of the conversation. That word is the inevitable “but.” Doesn’t it seem ironic how frequently sentences conclude with that seemingly small yet powerful word, introducing a twist that can throw off a day or a week? This customer delivered “but” would set me back two days of invested work.

The adoption of Electric Motorcycles

Recent research studies regarding the adoption of Electric Motorcycles (EM’s) concern themselves less about engines and horsepower and more about technology, affordability, and social influence[1]. With the global electric and Scotter Market estimated CAGR of 17.22% and increasing value of US$ 21.2 BN to US$103.45 BN from 2021- 2031[2], the question arises: Are the legendary British motorcycle manufacturers such as Norton, Triumph, and Royal Enfield developing electric motorcycles without the marketing and branding due diligence that perhaps is deserved.

A blast from the past – Let’s Talk Social 2023

The other day, a seemingly simple request threw me into a contemplative state. The task was to present examples of my writing and content creation. Initially, this was an effortless endeavour, considering the daily posts I share on Instagram. But then, reality struck. Those Instagram updates, though frequent, are primarily composed of images punctuated by a handful of hashtags. It led me to question a more profound matter: when was the last time I truly engaged in the art of extensive and substantive writing?

Navigating the Meta News Ban in Canada: A Personal Perspective

Prepping for the radio segment led me to fact-checking the latest news updates, only to notice something puzzling: Instagram and Facebook were void of any local news feeds. Instead, my Instagram feed was filled with posts from those I followed who bravely ventured into the outskirts to report on the unfolding events.

And so, the question arose: Why were these platforms seemingly devoid of vital news information during such a crucial time?

I am Canadian

Well, my name may not be Joe, but last week after living here in Kelowna for 21 years, I took the Canadian Citizenship oath with 47 other New Canadians from over 24 Countries, a genuinely international social event.

Week 18-Crying out for content

The latest report from the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism, “New Media, Old Media findings.” More than 99% of the stories linked to blogs came from legacy outlets such as newspapers and broadcast networks. And just four – the BBC, CNN, the New York Times and the Washington Post- accounted for 80% of all links.”
